Dissections & Simulations
I've just had a look at 'How to dissect a frog' online and this is amazing. Being the squeamish type, I was initially very hesitant to even proceed with the dissection. This program is fantastic - it enables students to get up close and personal with frogs (or other rodents)and really learn something in a clean, hygienic and interesting way. I am conformed! It was even fun to use the scalpel and scissors. By using such a tool, I can imagine students being able to learn more whilst still having fun. (It's kind of a sick buzz pulling back that frogskin and then pinning it to the screen). Not having done live dissections myself, I can envisage a classroom that achieves more, thus learns more due to the reduced time frames in setting and cleaning up such an activity and more effective discussion between students. ie. There are no excuses for being 'sick', not being able to cut into something etc. A great tool for use in Science classrooms.
