About Me

My photo
In a former life I was an Event Organiser but am currently studying to be a Primary School Teacher whilst juggling two small children and my husband. We live on a cattle property and it is the best place in the world to see my kids growing up and actively learning about the world around them. Hopefully I will be able to help them do this more successfully when I finish studying.

Google Earth

I am totally blown away! Whilst I have looked at Google Earth before, I have not done so in this detail or from a teaching and learning perspective. Gives me the travel bug - though maybe not just at the moment what with the workload in my study and with the volcano erupting in Iceland!
Google Earth gives students a real sense of where they are in the world and enhances their perspective of where they sit in it. This technology could be utilised across KLAs and exhibits traits of direct, purposeful experiences that actually mean something to the students involved in the activity/project. For example, if designing a tour, this is so much cooler than doing so by looking at a globe. The way you seem to fly around the world is awesome!
